What's On - Not To Be Missed!
The must see highlights of The Horn's diary - you don't know what you'll be missing out on if you miss these nights!
Fri 12th Feb GAYMER'S FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE
8.00-2am £4
Gaymers proudly presents its Second 'Friday Night Live' at The Horn. Gaymers are dedicated to helping new artists fulfil their potential. Tonight they showcase the best Rock bands from the Saint Albans area.
Freerun:
With a semi final slot in the 2012 Olympic Talent Serch and a tour including playing at the 02 arena to over 5,000 people this is not to be missed. An amazing band with a new linie up sounding as fresh as all the indie bands out there.
Brigante:
Briganté aren’t trying to be anything other then what they are… Indie rock and roll with lashings of funk rock combined to make music that oozes confidence, self-control and energy that would make even the most hardened music critic sit up.
Subset:
They appear to come straight out of a secret rock squat with no lights and no nonsense. They have been likened to Joy Division, The Rakes, The Pixies, The Strokes and Noir Desir.
REV 78:
Rev78’s music is a collision between dark, clashing soundscapes, and bright, catchy melodies which seep like honey through a toxic sea. Think The Killers playing hooky three-minute versions of Godspeed You Black Emperor tracks and you’re halfway there; somewhere in that swirling maelstrom is the chemistry needed for rock ‘n roll greatness.

Spectrasoul - With the Drum and Bass market in a state of complete over-saturation, it takes originality, class, and an understanding of quality control to get ahead. Having emerged from relative obscurity in 2006, SpectraSoul, have emerged as one of the new-school pioneers on the drum and bass circuit. 2008 saw the release of their much-anticipated underground anthem “Alibi”, which tore up dance-floors worldwide. Alongside this, 2008 also marked the release of SpectraSoul’s “Peninsula” and “The Tube”, both featured on Friction’s Shogun Audio imprint.
The duo show no signs of slowing in 2009, with scheduled releases for Goldie’s seminal Metalheadz Label, Teebee’s Subtitles, D-Bridge’s Exit Recordings, and, of course, further releases for Shogun audio and Critical Recordings.
Also featuring The Schemists + Outline + Distilled + Royce

In September 1983, “I won’t let the sun go down” was released for the first time and reached the dizzy heights of No.47. This was followed in January 1984 by “Wouldn’t it be good” which languished gracefully at No.4 in the UK charts for five weeks and was to break Kershaw worldwide. The album was released in March and achieved platinum sales in many territories. He managed to squeeze in two European tours, four more hit singles and another platinum album (The Riddle) before the end of the year.
1985 saw three hit singles, a world tour and an appearance at “Live Aid”
He was to record two more albums with MCA before quitting in 1989 to concentrate on song writing and ferret husbandry.
The 90s saw him writing for/with, amongst others: Chesney Hawkes, Cliff Richard, Bonnie Tyler, Lulu, Ronan Keating, Jason Donovan, Michael W Smith, Connah Reeves, Nick Carter, The Hollies, Colin Blunstone, Imogen Heap, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Darius, Gary Barlow and Let Loose.
He briefly poked his Artiste’s head out of the trenches to work with Tony Banks (Genesis) and to record a self penned duet with Elton John (little fella, glasses) but didn’t return to making his own records until 1998 when he released the critically acclaimed “15 Minutes” through Eagle Records. This was followed by the equally well received “To be Frank”.

Albany Down:
The sound of Albany Down is stripped-down-to-the-waist no nonsense rhythm and blues with a bit of jazz-funk to mix it up, quite 80's in places, but with a vintage heartfelt sensitivity and contemporary aggressive energy. Influences include Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses, The Who and The Rolling Stones.
