St Albans Peace Day

St. Albans Peace Day is a local contribution to the Peace One Day campaign. If successful, we shall seek an affiliation to this magnificent cause. There is also acknowledgement of the damage that we are doing to our planet.

Fund raising is for two causes. Firstly, the campaign against living miserably (CALM) an organisation that attempts to prevent young male suicide. The evening is dedicated to the memory of my son, Joshua, who took his own life four years ago aged 24. The other cause is Meninos do Morumbi or the boys of Morumbi (Morumbi is a province of Sao Paulo in Brasil). This is a project that strives to guide favela  children to a better future.

The music is eclectic ranging from Shaun, a potential Britain's Got Talent candidate, through the psychedelic rock of The Mighty Orchid King then the steel guitar of John Crampton. The live music will be closed by the musical inspiration of the Sex Pistols, Glen Matlock. There will be a sixty  second "silence" to acknowledge the damage that we have done to the planet and a sixty second "silence" for peace. Both pieces have been created by Glenn Freemantle the locally born Oscar winning (for Gravity) sound editor.

The night will be closed by the unique DJing skills of DJ Rusty Egan.
